REPORTS & PLAYLISTS
APRIL 2012
April 4th
Fairly quiet night at class mainly due to snow. The new dance this week was another from Daniel Whittaker “DRIVE BY” choreographed to a great track of the same name by Train. Only a few weeks since we did Daniel’s “POP” which is a massive hit with the class, and this looks like it’s going in the same direction. A 64 count, 2 wall dance described on the step sheet as Intermediate/Advanced but really it’s not that hard. There’s an easy 4 count tag at the end of wall 2 and at the end of wall 4 the music changes to a waltz rhythm where there is another tag (18 counts waltz & 8 counts normal beat), then 16 counts into the next wall a restart. It may sound complicated but really it isn’t and our dancers had no problems at all with it. A few weren’t too keen on the waltz section but if you want to dance to this track (which makes you want to dance) then it’s unavoidable. I personally like all the dance and think it’s an excellent piece of choreography. Also taught a nice easy one from Rachael “AMAZING GRACE”, music “Amazing Grace” by The Maverick Choir, 32 count, 4 wall easy dance with an easy tag. I was told afterwards that I seemed to rush the teach on this so I’ll go through it a more thoroughly next week. Recapped the last dance taught a couple of weeks ago “STUCK” (Kate Sala), after a cool reception after the first teach this seems to be growing on the class and becoming increasingly popular. Other recaps included “POP” (Daniel Whittaker & “FLYING WITHOUT WINGS” both big hits with the class.
