JANUARY 2015

January 7th

Great to be back at class after such a long break and not a bad turn out either. Had been a problem deciding what to teach but eventually settled on “YES” choreographed by Simon Ward & Jo Thompson Szymanski, what a great choice it turned out to be, they loved it, almost everyone on the floor all 3 times we danced it. It’s an 80 count, 2 wall, Intermediate dance with one tag (a repeat of the last 16 counts at the end of wall 4) choreographed to “Yes” by Merry Clayton from the Dirty Dancing Movie Soundtrack. Lots of holds and easy step combinations in this dance that make it quite an easy teach and doesn’t seem at all like you’ve done 80 counts. A fabulous fun dance that fits perfectly to the music and has the makings of a big hit, certainly going to be at our class.

Not as much recapping needed as one might think after the break as we had only taught one dance in December and two in November. Re-capped “BADDA BADDA SWING” (Daniel Whittaker & Simon Ward) and “SAMIRA” (Kate Sala & Robbie McGowan Hickie) both going well with our dancers and a quick wall of “DIAMONDS & DUST” (Rob Fowler & Kate Sala). Was very disappointed that nobody wanted to do Chicago Bonfire, the third most recent dance we’ve taught, when I was about to recap it. It’s a dance I really like so it looks like I’m just going to be doing it in the kitchen at home with Celia.

Playlist for the night was :- Fly High, Knockin’ On Wood, My First Love, Borrow My Heart, Something In The Air, Such A Fool, Truth Or Dare, Beautiful In My Eyes, All I Can Say, Ring My Bells, Cecilia, Belongs To You, Alcazar, Wow Tokyo, Yes (twice), Diamonds & Dust, Fireball, Badda Badda Swing, One Track Mind, Samira, Superheroes, Dream Lover, Bailando Amor, I Got It Easy, Wow Hawaii, Yes (again), Enigma & Young Blood.
