REPORTS  &  PLAYLISTS

NAPLES, FLORIDA   APRIL / MAY 2010

Whilst on holiday in Marco Island, Florida a favourite place of ours we made a few visits to The Vineyards Recreation Centre, Vanderbilt Beach Road, Naples (about a 20 mile drive from Marco) where Nancy Delaney runs classes every Monday & Friday morning from 9.30 am – 12.00 noon. An ideal time for us leaving the afternoons to lounge around the pool and evenings going out to dine and a “few” drinks. Nancy is an excellent teacher, has a very friendly class who have all become very good friends of ours as we have been visiting for quite a few years now.

Whilst we were there we learnt quite a few new dances : -

BAILA VOLARE – Choreographed by Forty Arroyo, Music Volare by Captain Jack

A phrased 2 wall intermediate samba line dance, apart from the A & B sections there’s a 2 count tag which you do twice, a 4 count bridge and another 12 count tag that you do once. Not half as complicated as it sounds and received a great response from the dancers.

FAITH & DESIRE – Choreographed by Johanna Barnes, Music Come On Get Higher by Matt Nathanson

32 count 4 wall intermediate dance, my personal favourite of the holiday, great dance to a great track.

LITTLE RED CORVETTE – Choreographed by Rob Glover, Music Little Red Corvette by Mike Zito, a 32 count 4 wall dance with a 4 count tag and restart on the 5th wall. A little tricky in parts but got a good response from most of the class.

HAVE I TOLD YOU LATELY – Choreographed by Jo Thompson & Kathy Hunyadi, Music Have I Told You Lately That I Love You by Van Morrison. A lovely 32 count 4 wall night club twostep. Very popular with her dancers.

Other dances that were new to us that we picked up were RHYME OR REASON (Rachael McEnaney), QUARTER AFTER ONE (Levi J Hubbard), both of which we have taught at our class since our return and MOONLIGHT MADNESS (Cathy & Kathy). We also just about remembered HURT LIKE YOU (Wes Smith) that we had learnt on our previous visit in February.

Good to see them still enjoying the two dances we had taught on our last visit “UPSIDE DOWN” & “BROKEN HEELS”

Other dances that  we danced included Stuff You Gotta Watch, Rain Against My Window, Hands Up, Jesse James, Toes, Playing With Fire, Vaya Condios, My Mamacita, Shoes of Another Man, Argentina, Beautiful Tena, She Believes, Singing In The Rain, My Veronica.

If you’re ever looking for somewhere to dance in South West Florida I suggest you pay Nancy a visit in Naples, you certainly won’t be disappointed.
